The CommunityWorks Canada® program provides an opportunity for teens with autism ages 15-21, to volunteer alongside typical peers in a variety of community settings (e.g., Science World, Union Gospel Mission, community gardens) while developing work skills and building communication and social skills. The program is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities Program, and is offered by the Canucks Autism Network as part of a new federally funded national project called Worktopia.

A cohort consists of 12 participants, six individuals with autism and six peer mentors. The 12 participants will be divided into two groups (three individuals with autism and three peer mentors in each group) and there will be one Program Facilitator assigned to each group. Sessions run weekly on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:30pm from January 7th to March 25th at various locations in the Vancouver-area.
