Social Group: for Teens & Young Adults

Social Programs for Teens & Young Adults with Autismpurpose

The purpose of the social group is to offer the opportunity for teens and young adults with autism to get together and have a good time in a safe and supportive environment.  The events change each month to offer a range of fun, age appropriate activities for participants to experience with their peers.

PROGRAM STructure

Events are planned once per month.  Please check this website and/or the newsletter for this month’s event. Participants are supported by a Program Coordinator, four Support Workers and Volunteers.
Past events have included: Bowling, sports events, charity events, art classes, dinners, laser tag, beach BBQ, water sports, snows ports, dance class and more!

SUPPORTS PROVIDED

At Canucks Autism Network, we strive to meet the needs of each participant through parent and participant collaboration.  Our staff receive training on a variety of support strategies for individuals with ASD.  Please do not hesitate to speak with our staff about strategies that should be implemented (e.g., visual schedules, first-then boards, token systems, social stories, etc.) and contact the Program Coordinator, darcie@canucksautism.ca, with any questions or  concerns.
