Dragon Boating

I CAN Paddle Dragonboat programpurpose

The purpose of the Dragon Boating program is to offer young adults with autism the benefits of being part of a dragon boat team in a safe and supportive environment. This program is a great opportunity for participants to work on fitness, team building and social skills. The I CAN Paddle program is possible due to the partnership with the Britannia Community Centre. Participants in this program are training to compete in the

Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival.

program Structure 

Each lesson is 2 hours, once per week, for 12 weeks.  The ratio of staff/volunteers to participants will be 1:3.  

Program Criteria

  • Aged 16-30 years
  • Have an autism diagnosis
  • Commit to attend the program on a weekly basis
  • Commit to participate in both the practice regatta and the Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival competition 



Registration for the spring 2017 multi-week program was open to from Monday, February 20th at noon, to Friday, February 24th.
If you’d like to submit a late registration request, please email info@canucksautism.ca with the following:
1.       The name and age of the participant, and
2.       The program name, location and time that you are submitting a late request for.
