I CAN be active
The purpose of the I CAN Be Active program is to teach children with autism, and their siblings, fundamental movement skills in a safe and supportive environment. Learning fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping and balancing helps children build the confidence necessary for a lifetime of sport and physical activity. This program is designed to give children the opportunity to be active and work on their physical literacy through games. I CAN Be Active program in Victoria is offered to participants between the ages of 3-6yrs.

I CAN play sports
The purpose of the I CAN Play Sports program is to provide children with autism, and their siblings, a fun introduction into the world of sports! Participants will enjoy games and drills that work on fundamental movement skills, specifically those used in the sports of soccer and basketball. This program is designed to provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for all those taking part. I CAN Play Sports programs in Victoria is offered to participants between the ages of 7-15yrs, and in Nanaimo is offered to participants between the ages of 5-15yrs.

I CAN SWIM
The purpose of this I CAN Swim program is to teach swimming and basic water safety skills to participants with autism in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will work on level appropriate skill development, and it is hoped that these skills will assist them to enjoy a lifetime of fun and safe water activities. Swim programs in Victoria and Nanaimo are offered to participants with autism between the ages of 3-13yrs.

I CAN SKATE
The purpose of the I CAN Skate program is to teach skating skills to children and youth with autism in a safe and supportive environment. The Victoria skate program focuses on basic skills such as moving forward, gliding and stopping. Skate programs are offered in Victoria, Shawnigan Lake, and Nanaimo, to participants with autism between the ages of 4-15yrs.

MULTISPORT DAY CAMP
The Canucks Autism Network Multisport Day Program is a great summer opportunity for participants with autism, and their siblings, to try a variety of sports activities! Participants will be given the opportunity to play sports such as, softball, soccer, tennis, bike and physical literacy. We are very excited to offer this opportunity to Canucks Autism Network (CAN) families living on Vancouver Island in order for their child to gain new experiences to sport in a supportive, safe and collaborative setting. The 2016 Multisport Camp was for participants’ age 5-16yrs, and took place in Shawnigan Lake.

The purpose of the Outdoor Rec program, in partnership with Power to Be, is to offer an introduction to youth and teens (12 -15yrs) with autism to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities in a safe and supportive environment. This program will run in Victoria and will take place in 2017 - check back in January 2017 for updated program details.

Many families affected by autism confront barriers when trying to participate in activities in the community. The Canucks Autism Network Family Events has been designed to help minimize these barriers, offer access to activities that are fun for the whole family, as well as provide opportunities to connect with other families living with autism. how to Access CANucks autism network Programs
In order to access any of the above programs, individuals with autism and their families must first complete our online membership registration. This can be done through our registration site.
Once the membership applications are complete, individuals and their families can use the same system to register online for upcoming Canucks Autism Network programs and events at www.canucksautismprograms.ca.
