Whether it's horseback riding, the ropes courses, canoeing and kayaking, games on the sports field or just plain having fun there's plenty to do*.
Each year, the Zajac Ranch for Children gives young people with extraordinary needs a chance to make friends, to try new things and above all, to have fun.
In collaboration with the Zajac Ranch we will have a number of opportunities for children and youth with autism and their siblings to spend a weekend at the Ranch.
May 1-3, 2009 we are offering a Family Camp at the Zajac Ranch.
May 15-17, 2009 we are offering a camp for children with autism.
May 29-31, 2009 we are offereing a camp for children with autism and their siblings.
To register please download the 2009 Zajac ranch camper application form for the camper with autism and the siblings application for the rest of the children. The forms can be found here. Please note that any siblings has a medical history then they will have to fill in the camper application as well. For more information please contact the Zajac Ranch directly at 604 462 8305.
As space is limited and to ensure that as many individuals and families as possible have the opportunity to go to the ranch if you register for more than one camp every application after your first one will be added to a waiting list and will only be processed if available spaces are not filled with first-time applicants.
For more information about the Ranch please visit their website or e-mail us at camp@canucksautism.ca.

"Shawn is my son who struggles with autism, mood disorder, ADHD, expressive language disorder and sensory integration disorder. Shawn's first experience at camp was this past summer. What a remarkable experience for a 10 year old little boy who wanted to be just like his older brother and go to camp. Up until then we had always explained to him that due to his challenges this would probably not be possible. When he was told that the opportunity to go to camp was offered, he was so happy.
I will never forget watching him from a distance and seeing him running around and playing with the other kids at camp. He was fitting in and having fun. When he noticed that we were standing there he raced over and said, 'Look mom, I can go to camp just like other kids.' It brought tears to my eyes to see him so happy."

I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for having this camp.
It was the first time Adrian had ever had a chance to go to camp. I didn't think he'd ever have that chance. He really enjoyed the activities, had chance to connect with other kids and most important of all had a chance to grow independent of Mom and Dad watching his every step.
All the best,
Joy Roberts
