Topic: Supporting Individuals with Autism in Sports and Recreation

Details: Community recreation leaders and coaches often face challenges when trying to include individuals with autism in sports and recreation settings. This workshop will provide an overview of autism spectrum disorders and introduce participants to a range of strategies for supporting individuals with autism, including communication tips, behaviour support tools, and group management strategies. Coaches, recreation staff, teachers, support workers, parents and anyone else interested in supporting individuals with autism to be physically active may benefit from attending this workshop.

Topic: Supporting Individuals with Autism in Crisis/Emergency Situations

Details: This workshop will provide an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder and what to expect when supporting and individual with ASD

Registration: All workshops are FREE! however registration is required.
You may register for one or all presentations. Registration is open to families, caregivers, service providers, and all interested stakeholders.

About Tara Rodas
Tara Rodas is the Manager of Training for the Canucks Autism Network and a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Her background is in working with individuals with autism in the sport, school, and home setting as a Behaviour Analyst. In her current role, she provides training to professionals in the sport, recreation, first responder, and school settings.
