Learn to Row: 3-Week Program (13yrs+)

The Learn to Row: 3-Week Program with Rowing BC takes place with sessions in July and August. The program is an opportunity for CAN youth and adults on the autism spectrum (13yrs+) to learn the basics of rowing, on-land training and on-water rowing!
This opportunity is ideal for those who:Â
- are comfortable with swimming
- are comfortable participating in a variety of weather and water conditions (wind, waves, rain, sun)
- enjoy being in-and-around water
- have enjoyed other full-body sports in the past
- are okay with constant boat and pedestrian activity in and around the False Creek waterway
The rowing stroke uses the whole body (legs, back and core, arms and shoulders) to propel the boat backwards through the water. The repetitive motion can be a relaxing recreational activity, or become a competitive pursuit. This introduction will provide the foundation for understanding and enjoying rowing, and can lead into future opportunities for those who wish to pursue rowing.
