Surrey International Children’s Festival (SICF)
May 23-25, 2019
Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park
Join us for the Surrey International Children’s Festival! In addition to receiving CAN autism training for festival staff, our friends at City of the Surrey are offering a number of opportunities for families with autism and other sensory sensitivities:
Sensory Friendly Space
Hosted by Canucks Autism Network, this space is offered for families who need a calm zone to relax, including noise-cancelling headphones (on loan), books, games and sensory toys.
Quiet Opening
• Saturday, May 25 at 9:30 am
Come early and enjoy the Festival site and select art activities before the official 10:30 start time. Access to the site and select activities is free for the duration of the festival.
Relaxed Performances of “The Comedy Magic of Rod Boss”
- Thursday, May 23 at 11:10am
- Saturday, May 25 at 11:00am
These performances are open to everyone, but are designed to be more welcoming for people who might not feel comfortable in a traditional theatre setting. Audience members with autism, people with sensory sensitivities, communication disorders or who experience anxiety will especially enjoy these shows. Purchase tickets.
