Canucks Autism Network is proud to support families living with autism across British Columbia. In the North, we have initiated relationships with a number of communities, parent groups and facilities to help build capacity across the province.
In May 2017, we embarked on a Northern Training Tour which welcomed sports and recreation staff, service providers, parents, and community members in Fort St John, Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge, Burns Lake, Smithers and Prince Rupert.
In February 2018, we will be returning to Northern BC to provide six autism training workshops in Kitimat, Terrace and Prince Rupert. For full details on this series of workshops, please visit our 2018 Northern BC Training Tour event page.
The workshops covered strategies for supporting individuals with autism in community recreation settings and also provided attendees with free access to valuable resources to help make local sporting opportunities more accessible and inclusive.
The Northern Tour was supported by local sponsors in each community as well as our key supporters, including Engage Sport North and the Friendship House Association of Prince Rupert. Learn more about our training opportunities.
We continue to search for new partnerships and funding opportunities that will allow us to introduce more programs, training opportunities, and events in regions across British Columbia. If you know of a potential program partner or funder, please email [email protected] with more information.
